5th Annual Parrot Heads for Pets Featuring: Timi & Steve Ryalls Download a copy of our prospectus
Starr Hill Music Hall, 97.5 3WV, and the Central Virginia Parrot Head Club invite you to join us for the 5th Annual Parrot Heads for Pets, an evening of island tunes with an eclectic mix of rock, R&B, and acoustic favorites in tropical atmosphere recreated here in the heart of Central Virginia all to raise money for the Charlottesville Albemarle Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). Our evening will feature three established local bands. The evening will begin with the Deadly Acoustic Duo of Timi and Steve Ryalls. Timi and Steve have been playing acoustic music locally for over 25 years with cover tunes ranging from the Allman Brothers to Bruce Springstein to Johnny Cash to Hootie and The Blowfish (be sure to ask Timi about his “3-Inch Tool”). Our second band of the evening will be Metanioa. Metanoia was founded in early 1998 with a desire to assemble a group of local, talented musicians who enjoyed playing rock and roll as their main hobby. The band has gained a strong, local following due to its upbeat nature of classic rock songs and its appeal to persons of all ages. Not wanting to play the “same old” cover band tunes, Metanoia chooses classic rock and roll from the 60's through today that is familiar yet different. With cello and violin added to the traditional rock band make-up of instruments, song selections range from REM, the B-52's, the Doobie Brothers, Santana, the Monkees and BTO to solo artists such as Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison, Billy Joel and Elvis. Our final, and headlining, band is Full Moon Saloon. Named after the legendary bar in Key West, the Full Moon Saloon Band was formed to help us put on the very first Parrot Heads for Pets. They have been our headliner for every Parrot Heads for Pets ever since. Full Moon Saloon plays all your favorite Jimmy Buffett tunes and has been known to throw in a few R&B songs for good measure. The Central Virginia Parrot Head Club is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to engage and participate in activities that are charitable, educational, and promote the well being of the community. The club helps to sponsor and provide social activities and events in the community for all who share an interest in the music of Jimmy Buffett and the tropical lifestyle he personifies. We help the community in many ways; such as raising money for local charities like the Alzheimer's Association, Habitat for Humanity, and the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA. We have sponsored blood drives and clean up a 3 mile stretch of Route 250. Founded in 1914 and incorporated in 1955, the CASPCA is an open-access facility that takes in close to 6,000 animals each year. Since 1956, the CASPCA has also served as the pound for both the city of Charlottesville and Albemarle County. In addition, they sell city and county dog licenses, serve as a lost and found service for the community, offer obedience classes, provide private animal cremations for the general public, and transport wildlife to the Wildlife Center in Waynesboro. |
